WANT TO TAKE YOUR PUBLIC AFFAIRS EXPERIENCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL? Yoswein New York, NY’s leading boutique public affairs firm, is growing and seeking to hire a lobbyist/senior account executive. Responsibilities include NYC and NYS lobbying, grassroots campaigns, communications (policy memos to op-eds) and day-to-day contact with clients, elected officials and policy makers. The ideal candidate has a proven public affairs background, relevant governmental experience (respect for government a must), strong writing skills and the ability to juggle/adapt in a fast-paced team environment. THE FIRM: Our clients range from local community-based non-profits to Fortune 10 companies, and they benefit from YNY’s broad array of practice areas that include public policy and budget lobbying, communications and public relations services, land use consulting, grassroots organizing and innovation and entrepreneurship advocacy.

THE POSITION: We are seeking a dynamic lobbyist/senior account executive who will work directly with the firm’s leadership to deliver a wide array of services to YNY’s diverse client base, with a primary focus on New York City lobbying and public affairs. A successful candidate will be able to leverage creativity, initiative and quality project management skills to thrive in a dynamic boutique firm environment.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive outreach, engagement and advocacy strategies that effectively impact public policy and community stakeholder decision-making on both New York City and New York State levels
  • Cultivate and expand relationships with elected and government officials and their staffs, as well as community-based organizations and local community stakeholders
  • Craft thoughtful and informed public affairs materials, including policy memos, client correspondence, op-eds, press releases, etc.
  • Monitor, identify and analyze New York City and New York State legislative and public policy activities and attend community meetings, press conferences and other public meetings as needed
  • Plan, coordinate and execute events for the firm and its clients
  • Schedule meetings with clients and government/elected officials

Qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience working in a public affairs capacity, with experience working directly for elected officials and/or other governmental entities preferred (respect for government is absolutely essential)
  • Detailed understanding of the New York City and State government and political landscapes and strong relationships with elected officials, staff members, agency personnel, etc.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, New York City and State legislative and budget processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and a strong attention to detail

COMPENSATION: Commensurate with experience ($80,000 - $150,000)
